Connect Family Resource Centre celebrates International Women’s Day

The Sluagh Hall echoed to the sound of chat and laughter on Tuesday as the Connect Family Resource Centre in Moneymore celebrated International Women’s Day surrounded by 70 other amazing women from the community.

The room was decorated with purple balloons, signs and all the staff were in matching purple clothes to represent the colour theme of this day. This year’s International Women’s Day theme was ‘Break The Bias’ and the staff started off the event by showing a video explaining this to all in attendance.

This was such a powerful clip and was met with a round of applause. After this all the Women took part in a table Quiz about Women’s Rights throughout the years.

The Connect FRC staff then distributed card making kits to everyone to create a personal card for a Woman in their life who they are grateful for or who inspired them in their life.

Amazing cards were created and Connect FRC posted them off later in the day to all the lucky recipients. The afternoon finished off with a hot lunch catered by Kierans Deli.

Many of the Women who attended the event are part of Connect FRC’s Women’s Group which started off with less than 10 members and now we have over 50 women attend our monthly Women’s Group Coffee mornings and events.

There was plenty of photos, chats and giggles had by all on a day that was both enjoyable and empowering.
