Concerns raised over proposed playground location at The Glen in Drogheda

Concerns have been raised locally over plans by Louth County Council to develop a new playground at The Glen Park in Yellowbatter, Drogheda, with some residents objecting to the proposed location due to existing congestion in the area.

The proposed playground, measuring approximately 922 square metres, is planned for the northwestern corner of The Glen, a public park located close to the centre of Drogheda town.

The park is bordered by Newfoundwell Road, Ascal A TrĂ and Flaxmill Lane and is surrounded by several residential estates. A bus stop is located at the southeastern corner of the park, and another directly across the Newfoundwell Road.

Locals opposing the proposal have raised concerns about increased traffic, parking pressures and congestion in an already busy area, while others have questioned whether the location is suitable given the volume of activity surrounding the park.

The proposed development forms part of ongoing plans by Louth County Council to enhance recreational facilities within the town.
