Community spirit shines at Louth PPN’s 2025 awards night

Louth Public Participation Network (PPN) representing 656 community, voluntary, social inclusion and environmental groups across the county celebrated the outstanding work of local organisations at its annual Community & Voluntary Awards on 19 November at the Monasterboice Inn.

The event brought together volunteers, community groups and local leaders to acknowledge those who devote their time and passion to making Louth a more inclusive, supportive and vibrant place to live.

  • Health & Wellbeing – Dear Future Me
  • Environmental & Conservation – Drogheda Tidy Towns Biodiversity Group
  • Social Inclusion – Women in Waves
  • Community Support – Louth Traveller Movement
  • Pride of Place – Dundalk Youth Centre

Speaking at the ceremony, PPN Secretariat member David Larkin said:
Today we shine a light on the everyday heroes whose quiet efforts help build stronger, kinder communities. These awards reflect the spirit of volunteerism and collective action that truly defines County Louth.”

Showcase of PPN-Led Initiatives

  • Increasing Female Participation in Sport – creating opportunities for women and girls to get involved in sports such as pickleball, tennis and basketball.
  • ilLUminate E-zine – a youth-led magazine created by young people, featuring resources, advice and articles for their peers.
  • Youth Anti-Vaping Campaign co-designed with young people to educate and support their peers in making healthier choices around vaping.
  • Learning English Through Sewing – helping non-native English speakers improve communication skills while learning sewing techniques.

Louth PPN thanked all nominees, supporters and community members who contributed to the success of the 2025 awards. The network continues to work to amplify community voices and strengthen collaboration across Louth.
