Closing date approaches for €2,000 Lakeland Dairies Bursary Programme

 

The deadline for students applying to a bursary scheme launched by Lakeland Dairies is fast approaching. Interested applicants have until 30th September 2024 to submit their applications for this valuable opportunity. 

The Lakeland Dairies Pathway to a Better Future Bursary will provide a €2,000 / £2,000 bursary to six students to support their academic journey. These bursaries are open to children of Lakeland Dairies’ 3,200 farm families and of the co-op’s staff, with three awards to be made in Northern Ireland and three in the Republic of Ireland. 

This Lakeland Dairies bursary programme is intended for students in undergraduate or higher-level degrees in areas closely aligned with the co-operative’s operations, including agricultural science, dairy science and engineering. 

The Pathway to a Better Future initiative is a key part of Lakeland Dairies’ Sustainability Strategy, demonstrating a commitment to education and innovation within the agricultural sector. 

Lakeland Dairies CEO, Colin Kelly, highlighted the co-operative’s dedication to fostering talent within the local community. “This bursary supports students whose academic paths align with our goals for a sustainable future. By investing in education, we’re not only nurturing individual potential but also ensuring the continued strength and sustainability of our farming community.”

To be considered for the bursary, applicants should submit the following documents to bursary.applications@lakelanddairies.com: 

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. Personal Statement (demonstrating an understanding of the importance of the dairy industry in the context of Ireland)
  3. Details of your academic programme and university
