Christmas Around the World returns to Drogheda next month

Culture Connect Drogheda has announced the return of its much-loved festive celebration, “Christmas Around the World 2025,” taking place on Saturday, December 6th in the Laurence Shopping Centre.

The annual event, which has become a highlight of the winter season in Drogheda, brings together families, students, community groups, and local performers to celebrate how different cultures mark Christmas and the winter holidays. Organisers say the goal is to create a welcoming, family-friendly space that reflects the growing diversity of the town and its surrounding areas.

This year’s celebration promises a mix of food, fun, music, storytelling, and global traditions, with Santa Claus himself set to make an appearance.

At the heart of the event will be the Global Christmas Marketplace. Community groups from across Drogheda will set up colourful stalls showcasing festive customs, symbols, crafts, and non-alcoholic dishes from countries such as Mexico, Brazil, Sweden, Poland, Moldova, and many more. Children can take part in the “World Passport” activity, collecting stamps at each stall and entering a prize draw.

On the main stage, performances will run every 20 to 30 minutes. Visitors can expect a lively mix of Christmas carols, Caribbean steel drum music, Moldovan Christmas dances with Bollywood influences, storytelling, and global Santa traditions including St Nicholas, Père Noël, and Ded Moroz.

Local groups and schools are being invited to take part, with opportunities for choirs, dance groups, student performers, and community organisations to showcase their favourite seasonal music, dances, plays, or poetry.

Organisers say the event is a wonderful opportunity for young people to perform for a wide audience and for families to enjoy a day of culture, learning, and festive spirit under one roof.

The event takes place on Saturday, December 6th from 2pm to 5pm at Laurence Shopping Centre. Groups interested in performing can register by contacting Culture Connect at office@cultureconnect.ie or by calling 041 9865025 before Friday, November 28th.

Culture Connect says it is looking forward to celebrating a “global Christmas” with the wider community.
