Bus Eireann to seek solutions to access problems at Drogheda depot

Aontu representative Michael O’Dowd has received a commitment from Bus Eireann that they will look at solutions to the problem of access for people with mobility issues to the Depot in Drogheda.

A significant meeting took place in Drogheda this week involving the Access Officer for Bus Éireann, representatives from the Irish Wheelchair Association and Drogheda and District Support 4 Older Citizens.

The aim of the meeting, which was organised by Michael O’Dowd, was to address accessibility challenges at the local Bus Depot.

“The meeting was positive, with open discussions about current obstacles to accessing the Bus Depot and brainstorming potential solutions” O’Dowd said. “The focus was on finding ways to improve access for everyone in the community.”

Christian Clarke, the Access Officer for Bus Éireann, pledged to consider the views expressed during the meeting and promised to provide a response in the new year.

“This commitment indicates a genuine effort to make transportation more inclusive for everyone”  O’Dowd said. “We all concentrated on trying to create solutions that benefit all community members, regardless of age or ability.”

O’Dowd first raised this issue back in Ocober of this year –  Click here to see our previous story.
