Boyne AC’s final training session of 2023 was the ideal opportunity to acknowledge the many great accomplishments of their athletes during the year.
A prize was awarded to every athlete who excelled in their discipline and were All Ireland medallists.
The outstanding five Boyne AC athletes of 2023 were:
- Isabelle Winters, who won a silver medal for the Leinster team in the All-Ireland Cross Country;
- Hila Raji, who won a silver medal in the U12 High Jump;
- Sean Stratton, who won a silver medal in the U19 Indoor 60m;
- Nina Kingabor, who won a silver medal in the U18 100m;
- Euan Canniffe, who won a silver medal in the Men’s Javelin.
Last Wednesday saw the formidable Jack Garvey dip his toe into his first-ever National Indoor track and field live meet, kicking off the new year for Boyne AC with a bang.
Despite never having run a competitive mile before, he participated in the men’s senior mile at the age of just fifteen.
Jack took the lead straight from the starting gun and, whilst he was challenged midway for the lead, by the time the final lap bell rang, Jack ended the cat and mouse game, surged into the lead, and won by 30 metres and a new personal best time of 4.45.
With a plethora of young athletes eager to compete, Boyne AC jumps right into the cross-country and indoor seasons as one year comes to an end and another one starts.
