The Aura Holohan Group, Ireland’s largest leisure provider and operator of Aura Drogheda, Aura Dundalk, and DKIT Sport, has won two major honours at the 2025 NISO/NISG All-Ireland Safety Awards held in Killarney earlier this month.
The group received the prestigious Exceptional High Achiever Award — presented to only 29 organisations across Ireland — along with the top accolade of National Winner in the Sport & Leisure Category.
The awards, hosted by the National Irish Safety Organisation (NISO) and the Northern Ireland Safety Group (NISG), recognise organisations that demonstrate exceptional commitment to workplace health, safety, and wellbeing.
Operating 17 centres nationwide, the Aura Holohan Group manages 11 Aura Leisure Centres, five Anytime Fitness Clubs, DKIT Sport in Dundalk, and the Holohan Leisure Consultants division, providing expertise in training, consultancy, and facility management.
Gerard Morgan, Group Health and Safety Manager, has played a central role in leading Aura’s safety culture, coordinating efforts across its network of facilities with the support of H&S Officer Dylan Dunleavy, Operations Managers, and Safety Committees.
“Safety culture lies at the core of our operations,” said Mr Morgan. “The health, safety, and wellbeing of our employees and customers are central to everything we do. We’re committed to fostering an open, positive, and proactive safety culture built on mutual trust, engagement, and continuous learning. These awards reflect our team’s dedication and collective efforts to continually strengthen and enhance that culture.”
Group Chairman, Gar Holohan, also praised the achievement: “We are delighted that our ongoing commitment to safety has once again been recognised as the best in the industry. Our Health and Safety team, led by Ger Morgan, truly delivers on our company value of being the best we can be.”
The national awards cap off an exceptional month for the company, which was also confirmed once again as a Great Place to Work and received further honours at the Ireland Active National Quality Standard Awards 2025.
