The Ardee Garden Care & Repair Project has been shortlisted for the Age Friendly Environment Award at the 2025 National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards.
The awards, organised by Age Friendly Ireland, celebrate projects that help create inclusive and supportive communities for older people.
The Ardee project was chosen for its outstanding contribution to ensuring older people in the area can live well, feel valued, and stay connected.
It is one of many initiatives across the country that have been selected for their impact, innovation, and potential to inspire others.
Other shortlisted projects include Gas Networks Ireland and Tirlán, who are finalists for the Age Friendly Business Innovation Award.
This year’s awards ceremony, the ninth of its kind, will take place on October 23 at The Galmont Hotel in Galway.
According to Catherine McGuigan, Chief Officer of Age Friendly Ireland, the awards highlight “the very best of community innovation, collaboration, and commitment to improving the lives of older people.”
The 2025 awards will honour achievements across eight categories, including Transport, Healthy Ageing, Business Innovation, and Housing.
A judging panel, chaired by Pat Dowling, visited all the shortlisted projects to see their work in action.
