All set for Drogheda’s Mythical Midsummer Festival

On Saturday week, June 25, West Street and the Old Abbey Lane will be hives of activity with street art, magic, music and fun as part of a Mythical Midsummer Festival Produced by Droichead Arts Centre and Love Drogheda BIDS.

You are invited to come along, bring your friends and family, to our free mini family day as part of our Mythical Midsummer Festival,

On Saturday 25 June at Old Abbey Lane from 12pm – 3pm, and in West St from 12pm – 4pm there’ll be arts, magic and fun, + DRAWDA mural tours.

Featuring at Abbey Lane:

Draw on DRAWDA – the giant letters arrive in the lane.

Create your very own Mythological Canvas with facilitators Yvonne Dowd Gardiner and Darrin Finnegan.

Savour some street food, and have your face painted in mythological designs and characters by the talented Kelly Kierans, of Gingernut Arts.

Plus Free DRAWDA Mural Tours with Grainne Rafferty and Mythologist Anthony Murphy at 11.45am and 1.45pm. Featuring, The legend of Salmon of Knowledge, Étaín the heroine of Tochmarc Étaíne, Boann Goddess of the Boyne, The Morrígan a triple Goddess, Dagda the leader of the Tuatha Dé Danann and famous bard, poet and judge Amergin!

Featuring on West Street:

Martin the Magician, Lida the Fairy and Jessica Kelly facepainting, at St Peters West Street from 12pm – 4pm.

Then at 8pm there’s a special intimate evening of outdoor music, against a beautiful backdrop of the mythical Boyne Valley legend, Boann.

Performing this late gig are:

The Cacks, Theresa and Darragh Ó Héiligh with Brónagh Barnes and Gráinne Casey. Tickets for this event are free but pre booking is essential. More info and booking at droichead.com
