A Hidden World: New Study Explores Biodiversity from Mary McAleese Bridge to Bridge of Peace

This weekend, the Highlanes Gallery hosted a special talk that revealed the findings of a new biodiversity study along the Boyne Greenway.

The project, commissioned by Drogheda Tidy Towns, explored a 2.5 km section of the river, from the Mary McAleese Bridge to the Bridge of Peace.

Local bee-keeper and environmentalist Tony Conaghy led the talk, sharing insights from the study, which recorded the rich variety of life found in four main habitats: Tidal River, Woodlands, Grassland, and Marshlands.

The illustrated presentation gave attendees a fascinating look at the natural world right on their doorstep.

Held as part of Heritage Week, the event underlined the Highlanes Gallery’s commitment to raising awareness about local environmental projects and connecting the public with issues critical to the region.

The talk was well-attended and provided an excellent opportunity to appreciate the unique nature of the Boyne Valley.
