Boyne AC athletes proved their resilience and determination at the Drogheda and District Christmas 5K, on Sunday braving the wet and windy weather to deliver some impressive performances.
Despite the tough conditions, the team showcased both their sporting prowess and festive spirit in what was a memorable day of racing.
Leading the charge for Boyne AC was Jack Garvey, who finished 19th overall with an incredible time of 00:16:52. This remarkable achievement further solidifies his reputation as one of the club’s most promising young athletes.
Close behind was Seamus Keenan, who put in a stellar performance, achieving a personal best of 00:17:27 and proving that his hard work and determination are paying off.
Jack Willis delivered another standout run, crossing the line in 00:20:57 and rounding off a fantastic year that saw him win numerous cross-country medals. Not far behind, Eoin McEntee powered home in 00:21:35, demonstrating his strength and endurance on the day.
Sibling rivalry brought added excitement as Will Gow finished just ahead of his younger sister Stella, clocking a time of 00:21:57. Stella, only nine years old, was outstanding with a time of 00:28:54, showcasing her potential as a rising star in athletics.
Eilish Keenan was a key contributor to the female junior team’s success, finishing in 00:22:09 and helping to secure gold. Dara Ellie Winters Schiopu also shone, setting a new personal best with a time of 00:22:13. Shauna Rice followed closely with a fantastic run, finishing in 00:22:47, while Joe Bell delivered a solid time of 00:23:49.
Cormac Brodigan and Ciaran Garvey both celebrated personal bests, finishing in 00:25:42 and 00:27:57, respectively. Meanwhile, Paraic Keenan demonstrated his determination with a strong time of 00:33:52, rounding off an excellent day for the Keenan family.
Boyne AC once again proved their strength as a club, with athletes of all ages delivering inspiring performances despite the challenging weather. Their determination and camaraderie were on full display, making the Drogheda Christmas 5K a festive and memorable event. Congratulations to all who competed!
