Neutrality Roadshow coming to Drogheda on 2nd July

The Neutrality Roadshow which has been touring Ireland, hosting community discussions about the dangers to Irish neutrality if the government dismantles the Triple Lock, is coming to Drogheda on July 2.

The “Triple Lock” mechanism guarantees that no more than 12 Irish soldiers can be sent into battle zones without the permission of the government, Dáil Éireann and the United Nations.

The Drogheda event is being organised by members of Drogheda Stands with Palestine group who would like to invite anyone concerned about this issue to join them in McHughs on Cord Road, from 7-9pm on Wednesday 2nd July.

“The government is barrelling ahead with its anti-democratic moves to jettison the Triple lock, ditch Irish neutrality, and get us into military alliances with the powers committing a genocide and now starting WWIII” said a spokesperson.

“Never was there such a need for Ireland’s voice as an actively neutral state. If the 26 counties close off this possibility we are one step closer to being in a 32 county NATO outpost. Our children will be fighting and dying for the same imperialist forces that occupy the six counties today.

“We are honoured to have Karen Devine, Róisín McAleer and Rory Rowan join us for this leg of the roadshow in Drogheda. Please come along on the 2nd of July and contribute to the conversation about the dire threat to Irish neutrality and what we can do about it.”
