Drogheda and East Meath Cathaoirleach, Councillor Stephen McKee, has welcomed the commencement shortly of a new, 7 days a week, TFI Local Link bus service that will link Donore, Newgrange and Drogheda with a number of services running each day.
“This follows intense lobbying of the NTA on my part for bus services in the area to improve. This new service will complement the existing 188 route which already connects Drogheda, Duleek, Donore and Navan.
‘I’m told that the new service will be a flexible service to better meet the needs of Donore residents who rely on public transport.’
“I have been highlighting to the NTA for quite a while now the need for additional bus services for the Duleek, Donore and Drogheda area to facilitate people going to work, to attend Hospital appointments and also students travelling into Drogheda or onto other destinations such as DKIT so this is good news for the area.
“The Connecting Ireland Plan is a major national public transport initiative developed by the NTA with the aim of increasing connectivity, particularly for people living outside major cities and towns.
“It is welcome that small towns and villages like Duleek and Donore are starting to really see the benefit from the Plan.”
