It said:” For many years Phyllis was among the dedicated ladies who formed the backbone of St Kevin’s GAA, working tirelessly behind the scenes at guest teas, fundraisers and countless community events that brought our club together.
“Phyllis embodied the very spirit of the GAA, community, dedication and unwavering support. Her caring and giving nature touched everyone she met and her vibrant social character brought life and joy to all around her.
“This same caring spirit was evident throughout her work at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where she was an extremely popular member of staff until her retirement in 2006.
“Even after the heartbreaking loss of her beloved son Philip in 1998 – an outstanding player who represented both club and county with distinction – Phyllis continued to put others first, always keeping a brave face and caring for those around her.
“The Grogan family’s deep connection to our club continues through her children LInda, Brian , Lorraince and Michael ( currently serving on our executive committee) , all of whom have followed their mother’s example as stalwart members, contributing both on and off the field throughout the years.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Lorraine, Brian, Linda, Michael and Kevin, their father Benny and her 11 grandchildren.”
