Ace AC athletes Cooney, Lawrence and Wong win Leinster Titles

It was double Gold in Tullamore for Ace AC’s u17 athlete Sholah Lawernce at the Leinster Championships at the weekend. On Saturday Sholah won the 1500m race after a great sprint finish and she also secured the 800m title a day later, with another top class performance.

U18 sprinter Stevie Wong continued his great form also winning 2 Leinster titles over the weekend with Gold in both the 100m & 200m. Stevie also secured a new 200m PB of 23.10.

U16 Chloe Cooney returned after several weeks sidelined with injury yet still managed to secure gold and retain her 1500m Leinster title, with a new PB. Chloe travelled back to Tullamore the following day for the 800m final but missed out on a medal, however she secured the vital 4th place she needed for National final qualification.

The ever improving, U17 athlete Rhys Clarke won his first ever individual Leinster medal with a brilliant second in the boys 1500m on Saturday. Rhys started the race very strongly and secured a silver medal along with a new PB.

There were many other good Ace AC performances at the Leinster championships with u16 Daniel Hanley finishing 5th in the 800m just missing out on National qualification, u17 Fergus Nolan was impressive in 4th in the 800m, u16 Eoin O’Grainne had a new 800m PB as did u17 800m runner Jamie O’Reilly. U15 Naiya Semple was 5th in the long jump.

Daniella Adebola, Cillian Sheridan, Chloe Hanley, Lauren Faulkner & Dylan Garcia also ran well.

Meanwhile some of the older athletes skipped the Leinster Championships in an attempt to secure various international qualification times, in an Irish milers event in Belfast. u19 Neil Culhanne ran a season’s best 800m performance of 1.51 while u17 Shea O’Donnell ran a new PB of 1.55.
