Helping Hands Helping Communities Duleek seek participants for charity cycle

Following a successful cycle in Galway in aid of the Croí Heart & Stroke Charity on 9th June, Helping Hands Helping Communities Duleek are now turning their attention to their annual fundraising event for the homeless and local charities.

Every October since 2020 the group have been holding Team Challenge where volunteers participated in a 50kms walk, 50kms run or a 100kms cycle. Last year the volunteers Kms jointly added up for the month’s challenge was just over 3,500kms which was a massive achievement.

All participating volunteers faced adverse weather conditions during the challenge which began on the 1st October and ended on 31st October. This year we are looking at beginning the challenge in the second week of September and ending in the second week of October.

“Hopefully we will get people volunteering to participate and businesses to come on board to sponsor the event like last year” said spokesperson Thomas Lynch.

“Because of a proposed earlier start by two weeks we are already organising this event which is the bread and butter of our yearly fundraising. Any business or individual wishing to participate can contact us be email at helpinghandsduleek@gmail.com  or text/phone 089-4833 212 or pm them on Facebook.

“Organisations we will be able to assist from your generosity are as like last year, Homeless Ireland Action Collective , the homeless, Duleek senior Ctizens, Duleek Meals On Wheels, Drogheda Women’s and Children’s refuge, Children’s ward Drogheda Hospital, local nursing homes in Duleek and Stamullen amongst others.”
