Become a Local Hero: Boyne Fishermen Rescue Service Seeks New Volunteers

 

The Boyne Fishermen Rescue and Recovery service are looking for new members.

The dedicated voluntary group are holding an information meeting for anyone who is interested in joining them on Wednesday, August 13 next at 7.30p at their headquarters on the March road in the town.
 
In a message posted on its Facebook page the BFRRS said:” We are looking to recruit new volunteers to join our team.
 
We seek a broad and diverse group of volunteers from search and rescue, diving, fundraising, grounds maintenance and many more roles to keep our charity providing vital services to our community.
 
“There are no limits or criteria only to be above the age of 18 and undergo National Garda vetting screening.
 
“Whether you have spare time and would like to give back to the community, meet new people or are looking to fill some time in your retirement, why not call in and have a chat to see if you would like to join our team.”
 
The Boyne Fishermen organisation have saved many precious lives around the area over the years and also recovered the bodies of loved ones who had drowned in the Boyne or at sea.
 
It was originally founded by local fishermen who fished on the river Boyne.
