Drogheda United will look to turn the tide against St Patrick’s Athletic when the sides meet for the fourth time this season at Sullivan & Lambe Park on Friday, 21st August.
Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
The Boynesiders go into the game on the back of a 3-0 away win over College Corinthians in the Club Orange Men’s FAI Cup last week.
Drogheda made the perfect start in that tie, taking the lead inside the opening minute when Keegan Ancelin headed Warren Davis’ cross home from close range at the back post.
Their advantage was doubled after 13 minutes. Brandon Kavanagh played Mark Doyle through and the forward slotted the ball past Corey Chambers at his near post.
Ancelin then added his second and Drogheda’s third shortly before half-time.
Alfie Bates’ cross was headed back across goal by Doyle, allowing Ancelin to finish from close range and put the game beyond the hosts.
Looking for a different outcome against St Pat’s
Friday will be the fourth meeting between Drogheda United and St Patrick’s Athletic this season.
The previous three have all gone the way of the Saints.
St Pat’s won 4-1 at Richmond Park in March before claiming a 3-1 victory at Sullivan & Lambe Park in April.
They completed a third win over the Boynesiders with a 2-0 victory at Richmond Park in June.
Drogheda Life covered that earlier run of fixtures, including the April meeting at Sullivan & Lambe Park and the June clash following the mid-season break.
Friday therefore gives Drogheda another opportunity to get a first result against St Patrick’s Athletic this season, this time with home advantage and a place in the next round of the FAI Cup already secured following last weekend’s win.
