Two Louth students have earned international recognition after achieving outstanding results in their Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations, ranking among the top performers in both Ireland and the world.
Drogheda’s Eimear Clarke finished first in Ireland and eighth in the world in the Advanced Taxation exam, while Dunleer’s Michael McKenna secured first place in Ireland and seventh in the world in Strategic Business Leadership.

Both students are studying with Dublin-based online college, Accountancy School, and were among 28 of the college’s students to achieve first place in Ireland in their respective ACCA examinations.
Their success is particularly impressive given the scale of the ACCA qualification, which is studied by around 500,000 students worldwide, including approximately 8,000 in Ireland.
Eimear and Michael were honoured alongside their fellow high-achieving students at a special awards ceremony in Dublin recognising their exceptional examination results.
Congratulating the pair, Accountancy School Managing Director Dave O’Donoghue said the ACCA qualification is recognised around the world and continues to open doors to rewarding careers in accountancy and financial management.
“ACCA is a globally recognised accountancy qualification, and the key to a hugely rewarding career in accountancy and financial management, here in Ireland and internationally,” he said.
“At a time when employers worldwide are actively seeking qualified accounting talent, ACCA trainees, affiliates and members continue to benefit from strong demand for their skills and excellent career prospects.”
The results place both Louth students among the highest-performing ACCA candidates internationally and highlight the exceptional standard achieved by Irish accountancy students on the global stage.
