Slane Castle 5km Trail Run and Walk returns for another successful year

The 11th annual Slane Castle 5km Trail Run and Walk, which returned to the grounds of the historic estate on Sunday morning.

The event, which got underway at 9.30am, saw participants of all ages and abilities complete the scenic 5km route through the Slane Castle estate, following forest trails along the River Boyne.

The popular community event offered participants the chance to enjoy the surroundings of one of the region’s best known landmarks, with Slane Castle also recognised internationally as a concert venue and filming location for The Traitors Ireland.

The annual run and walk is organised by the Parents’ Association of St Patrick’s National School in Slane, with support from Meath Local Sports Partnership, Slane Castle and Civil Defence.

Funds raised through the event will go towards the continued development of outdoor learning spaces at the school.

Alex Mount Charles welcomed participants back to the estate and was delighted to continue supporting the event, which has become a popular fixture in the local calendar.
