A woman in her fifties has been arrested by Gardaí investigating the disappearance and murder of six year old Kyran Durnin.
The arrest took place this morning, with Gardaí also carrying out a search at a domestic residence in Drogheda as part of the ongoing investigation.
The woman is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in the Eastern region.
Kyran was last seen alive in late June 2022 and there have been no confirmed sightings or photographs of him since that time.
If alive today, Kyran would have turned 10 years old on May 15th. He was officially reported missing on 30 August 2024.
Two other people, a woman in her twenties and a man, were previously arrested in connection with the investigation. Gardaí also carried out searches at a number of properties in Drogheda and Dundalk during the inquiry.
Both individuals were later released without charge. The man, who had denied any involvement in Kyran’s disappearance, later died by suicide.
Gardaí continue to investigate the case and remain hopeful of making a breakthrough following a number of public appeals for information relating to Kyran’s disappearance.
