Communities across County Louth are set to benefit from €593,000 in funding for local climate action projects aimed at supporting more sustainable and low carbon communities.
The funding has been awarded under Phase 2 of the Community Climate Action Programme, which saw almost €27 million allocated nationally, alongside an additional €2.6 million to support further projects from local authority reserve lists.
Louth TD Paula Butterly welcomed the announcement and said the funding would support a wide range of local initiatives.
“I am delighted that so many communities across Louth have been successful in receiving this funding, with a total of €593,000 for projects in the county,” she said.
“This programme will empower communities in Louth to take local action on climate change, while also contributing to our national climate and energy goals.”
Deputy Butterly said communities across Louth have already shown strong leadership through local climate initiatives in recent years.
“We’ve already seen some brilliant examples of climate action being taken at a local level in Louth, underpinned by local authority leadership and community ownership.”
She said projects supported under the scheme have already delivered a range of benefits including lower energy costs, biodiversity improvements and wildlife restoration.
“Not only will they contribute to reaching our climate targets but will make a practical, positive difference for people in their day to day lives.”
Deputy Butterly added that she looks forward to seeing the funded projects progress across the county in the months ahead.
“I look forward to seeing these projects coming to fruition across Louth and seeing the benefit they have for our communities,” she said.
