Volunteers sought for Drogheda Tidy Towns clean up on northside

Drogheda Tidy Towns is calling on volunteers to give an hour of their time this evening to help tackle a litter blackspot on the northside of the town.

The litter pick and clean up will take place around the Matthews Lane roundabouts and surrounding approach roads on Wednesday, May 20 at 7pm.

The area was highlighted during the recent national Tidy Towns competition as having a significant litter problem, with the local group now hoping to improve the area with community support.

Drogheda Tidy Towns said every extra pair of hands would make a difference.

“These are heavily littered areas and every extra pair of hands helps. Can you spare an hour this Wednesday to help tidy up Drogheda? Just one hour of your time would make a real difference.

“Everyone is welcome so if you are free, please come along and lend a hand. A cleaner Drogheda starts with us all.”

Volunteers are asked to meet at the Tesco Extra car park beside Costa at Donore Road Retail Park. Bags, gloves and litter pickers will be provided.

The clean up follows another busy week for Drogheda Tidy Towns, who recently carried out successful clean ups at basement areas around Laurence Street and St Laurence Gate.

The group has also overseen the installation of two new public benches on the Dublin Road with assistance from Louth County Council and sponsorship from Power Capital Renewable Energy.
