Public Invited to Help Shape the Future of County Museum

Louth County Council is inviting people across the county to have their say on the future of County Museum.

The Council is currently developing a new Strategic Development Programme for the Museum which will guide its work from 2026 to 2030. The plan aims to ensure the Museum continues to protect, present and celebrate Louth’s rich cultural and historical heritage while responding to the changing needs of communities across the county.

A public consultation is now underway and will run until Friday, May 22. Members of the public are being encouraged to share their views by completing a short online survey.

Feedback gathered during the consultation process will help shape priorities for museum exhibitions, facilities, learning initiatives and community engagement programmes over the next five years.

Amanda Branigan, Head of Cultural Services at Louth County Council, said the consultation was an important opportunity for people to contribute to the future direction of the Museum.

“Our new five year Museum Development Programme is about ensuring the County Museum continues to be a welcoming, engaging and meaningful space for everyone,” she said.

“The museum plays a vital role in preserving our shared heritage and telling the stories of Louth’s people and places. This consultation gives the public an opportunity to tell us what they value most from exhibitions and educational programmes to access, interpretation and community involvement.

“We would strongly encourage people of all ages to get involved, share their ideas and help shape the future of the County Museum.”

The online consultation is available through Louth County Council and County Museum social media pages.
