The Irish Cancer Society ‘Your Health Matters’ Roadshow will visit Marshes Shopping Centre next week, offering free health checks and advice to the public.
The event will take place from 10am to 5pm on Wednesday May 6th and Thursday May 7th, with no appointment needed.
Members of the public are invited to drop in and speak with specialist cancer nurses to ask questions and receive support. Services available on the day include free blood pressure checks, body mass index and carbon monoxide readings, along with information on cancer prevention, screening and how to recognise early signs of cancer.
Where needed, referrals to a GP can also be arranged.
Early detection plays a key role in improving outcomes for those diagnosed with cancer, helping to increase survival rates and reduce the severity of treatment. However, many people delay or avoid visiting a GP, even when experiencing potential symptoms.
The roadshow aims to encourage people to take a proactive approach to their health by raising awareness, promoting positive lifestyle choices and supporting early intervention.
Last year, the initiative visited 20 locations across the country and engaged with almost 30,000 people on cancer awareness and prevention.
