Motorists warned of disruption as fuel protests continue across Louth and Meath

Motorists are being warned of possible traffic disruption across Louth and Meath today due to ongoing fuel protests.

A major protest is planned in Dundalk and could impact traffic along sections of the M1. In recent days, blockades involving tractors and lorries have already caused disruption at junctions in Monasterboice and Ravensdale.

The Dundalk convoy gathered earlier at Junction 17 on the M1 near Castleblayney and is expected to travel towards Clanbrassil Street, reaching the town centre around 1pm. Gardaí are also attending a protest on the M1 southbound at Junction 18.

Organisers have asked those taking part to keep the protest peaceful and have encouraged families to attend.

While no protest is planned in Drogheda, farmers and contractors from the south of the county are expected to join the convoy.

Fuel shortages are also continuing to affect Drogheda, with several petrol stations reporting that they have run out of fuel. There is currently no clear timeline for when supplies will be restored.

Motorists are being advised to ration their fuel and only to make essential journeys.
