New Women’s Shed Group to Bring Creativity and Connection to East Meath

A new Women’s Shed group is being set up in East Meath, bringing a fresh opportunity for women in the Mornington, Bettystown and Laytown area to come together, connect and get involved in creative projects.

The group aims to unite local women who are interested in sharing ideas, developing workshops and building a supportive community space.

Inaugural meetings will take place at the Village Hotel, Bettystown, on Tuesday, April 14, from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and on Wednesday, April 15, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

In a social media post, the organisers said: “Something new is coming. Help us build Mornington, Bettystown and Laytown Women’s Shed.

“Our mission is to unite and empower local women through creativity and connection. We’re looking for founding members, ideas and helping hands to get our first projects off the ground.”

The group is encouraging women to attend the meetings, share their ideas and help shape the direction of the new initiative.

They added: “We want this to be our space. What would you like to see, workshop ideas, coffee mornings, skill sharing? Spread the word, invite your friends to the meeting, come and get involved.

“Let’s create a space together where we all feel valued and supported.”

There are now around 120 Women’s Shed groups across Ireland, offering a social outlet for women of all ages and backgrounds. The groups aim to tackle isolation and loneliness through creativity, skill sharing and community engagement.

They provide a welcoming space for women to meet, chat and support one another, while also promoting wellbeing and community spirit. Many groups are affiliated with Women’s Sheds of Ireland.

Closer to home, the Boyne Women’s Shed group in Drogheda meets at St Peter’s Church of Ireland parish hall on Peter Street every Wednesday from 11am to 1pm. The group has been running successfully for over three years.
