Residents in Yellowbatter have raised concerns about the condition their estate has been left in following recent water works carried out by Uisce Éireann.
Locals say footpaths and green areas have been damaged, with sections left muddy and without grass after the works were completed.
The issue has been highlighted by Joanna Byrne TD and Senator Alison Comyn, who have both called on the utility to return and restore the area.
Deputy Byrne said she was “shocked and appalled” at the condition left behind, adding that hazards had been left exposed over the bank holiday weekend.
“I’ve contacted them to ensure they return and immediately repair the streets, footpaths and green areas. I won’t rest until the entire area is returned to the way it was before Uisce Éireann started their works.”
Senator Comyn said she has received a number of complaints from residents and has also raised the matter with the company.
“Take a look at the shocking state one of the green areas of Yellowbatter has been left in following recent works.
“The grass is completely destroyed and residents are now forced to walk through mud just to access their cars. This simply is not good enough.
“I will be contacting Uisce Éireann immediately to raise the issue and working with local representatives to make sure it is rectified.”
Uisce Éireann has been carrying out works on water mains across Drogheda in recent months, with concerns raised that other areas may also have been left in poor condition.
Residents say uneven footpaths and damaged green spaces are becoming an issue, particularly as the summer months approach.
Senator Comyn added that communities deserve better and encouraged anyone experiencing similar issues to make contact.
