Over 200 children from Drogheda, East Meath, Dunleer, Trim and Slane took part in the Drogheda Credit Union School Quiz 2026, which was held on Friday, February 6th at Drogheda Institute of Technology. The event was overseen by quiz master Declan Collins and saw schools compete for the title of 2026 school quiz champions.
There was a lively atmosphere throughout the venue as students, some as young as eight, worked their way through a wide range of challenging questions. Teachers and supporters watched closely as the scores remained tight, making for an exciting and closely fought competition.

Finbar Murphy, Chairperson of Drogheda Credit Union, said:
“I want to acknowledge each and every one of the schools that take part in the quiz. Each year teachers do tremendous work in preparing their students ahead of the quiz. Thank you all for being a part of this fantastic event.”
In Category A, under 11, St Patrick’s National School in Slane claimed first place, while in Category B, under 13, Realt na Mara GNS secured the win.

The first place and runners up in each category will now go forward to represent Drogheda Credit Union in the second stage of the Credit Union School Quiz in March. Congratulations were extended to all the teachers, pupils and parents involved.
