Public invited to help shape future of Louth library services

Louth County Council Library Service is inviting people across the county to have their say on the future of local libraries as part of the development of a new five year programme covering the period from 2026 to 2030.

The new Library Development Programme will set out priorities for services, facilities and activities, with the aim of ensuring libraries continue to meet the changing needs of communities throughout Louth.

The public consultation will run from 12 January to 20 March. Members of the public can take part by completing an online survey or by attending one of a series of focus groups that will be held at locations across the county.

Feedback gathered during the consultation process will help shape how library services are delivered over the next five years.

Amanda Branigan, County Librarian and Head of Cultural Services with Louth County Council, said the programme is focused on creating welcoming spaces and services that reflect what people in Louth value most. She said libraries play a central role in local communities and the consultation gives people an opportunity to highlight priorities such as access to technology, community events, learning spaces and creative opportunities.

She encouraged people of all ages and backgrounds to take part and help shape a library service that works for everyone.

The online survey is available on the Louth County Council website at www.louthcoco.ie.

Further information can also be obtained from libraries in Ardee, Carlingford, Drogheda, Dundalk and Dunleer, or by emailing libraryhelpdesk@louthcoco.ie.
