The search is on to find the next generation of young artists for the 2026 Texaco Children’s Art Competition. Now in its 72nd year, the competition is Ireland’s longest-running arts sponsorship and continues to celebrate the creativity of children across the country.
Drogheda students have already been recognised for their outstanding work. Subinoy Bhakta, 13, a pupil at the Arthouse, won third prize in Category G for his artwork entitled The Pigeon. Pauline O’Connell, final adjudicator of the competition and a renowned Irish visual artist, curator and educator, praised Subinoy’s piece as “a skilful mixed media work in collage using paint and drawing.”
Twelve-year-old Eshika Eva Paul, also from the Arthouse, received a Special Merit Award for her work 7 Years Ago. Ms. O’Connell said the piece “displayed high levels of skill and creativity.”
Entries for this year’s competition close on Friday, 27th February, with judging scheduled for March and winners to be announced in April.
