Jimmy Weldon’s Christmas Pop-Up Shop Opens Today on West Street

A festive tribute to one of Drogheda’s most beloved photographers opened on West Street today, as Jimmy Weldon’s Christmas Pop-Up Shop welcomed its first visitors.

Running from Thursday 11 December to Sunday 21 December 2025, the pop-up celebrates the life and work of the late Jimmy Weldon, whose photographs captured generations of Drogheda people, places and moments. It is located in the former Homeflair unit and will open daily from 10am to 5pm.

The collection has been carefully curated by Jimmy’s wife, Kathriona Weldon, who selected a range of prints from his extensive archive many of which have never been available to buy before. The display offers a rare chance to revisit Drogheda’s past through his unique eye.

All proceeds will go to local charities, continuing Jimmy’s legacy of generosity and community spirit.

Speaking today, Kathriona said:

“Jimmy had a wonderful gift for capturing the people of Drogheda at their very best. This pop-up shop is a celebration of his life’s work and a way to share those memories with the town he loved.”

A festive window display of Jimmy’s portraits and local scenes now brightens West Street, inviting people to step inside, browse the prints and perhaps find a meaningful Christmas gift with a special connection to the town.
