Louth & Meath Locals Encouraged to Nominate Unsung Heroes

People across Louth & Meath are being encouraged to nominate someone who makes a real difference in their community for this year’s AXA Community Hero Awards, which come with a total prize fund of €80,000.

Four Community Heroes will be chosen nationwide, with each winner receiving €20,000 to donate to a charity of their choice. Previous beneficiaries include Cork Cancer Connect and Community Connect in Galway.

Nominations can be made under one of four categories:

  • Road Safety
  • Mental Health
  • Women’s Safety & Wellbeing
  • Sustainability

AXA’s judging panel will be looking for individuals who have shown leadership, innovation and a strong commitment to helping others.

Elizabeth Arnett, Chief Communications, Brand & Sustainability Officer at AXA Ireland, said the awards aim to celebrate those who “go the extra mile to deliver positive change,” while Mick Comerford, Direct Retail Director, said AXA is proud to highlight the “amazing work happening across Ireland’s communities.”

To nominate someone, members of the public are asked to outline in 150 words or less how their chosen person has made a positive impact. Nominations can be submitted online via axa.ie, and staff in AXA branches are available to assist with any queries.

Nominations are open until 4pm on Monday, 5th January 2026, with winners to be announced later that month.
