The chairperson of Louth County Council, Cllr Sean Kelly speaking at the opening of the Book of Condolences said the whole county is heartbroken by this devastating tragedy.
He said: “At a time when people start thinking about Christmas, the loss of five precious lives has cast a deep shadow over our community. The pain their families are enduring is beyond words, and we hold them close to our hearts at this incredibly sad time.
“I also want to acknowledge the extraordinary efforts of the first responders, including the Louth County Council Fire and Rescue Service ,the Gardai, the ambulance crews who face a challenging scene with professionalism and compassion.
“Their dedication and courage in the most challenging circumstances deserve our deepest respect and gratitude.”
David Conway, Chief Executive Officer, Louth County Council added:” Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this terrible incident. Five young people from different communities, yet linked together in friendship, were taken far too soon, and that makes the loss all the more poignant.
“I would also like to express my appreciation to our Fire and Rescue Service for their commitment and professionalism, alongside the Gardai and ambulance crews.”
