€620,000 Allocated for Design and Planning of Slane Heritage Project

Cllr Wayne Harding has welcomed the announcement of €620,000 in funding towards the design and planning of the recently purchased period house and garden in Slane village.

The funding, allocated by Minister Darragh Callery, will support the development of detailed plans for the site’s future use and preservation.

Cllr Harding said the next phase will involve engagement with local residents to ensure the project delivers long-term benefits for the community.
“There will now be a period of consultation with the local community to maximise the benefit this project will have for the people of Slane and its environs.”

He acknowledged the collaborative effort behind the project, noting its steady progress over the past three years.
“I have worked on this project with local man Pat Doyle over the last three years and each of the stages are significant milestones. The initial purchase by Meath County Council shows their absolute commitment to rural regeneration, and this announcement shows that the council’s commitment is matched by Minister Callery’s office.”

The project aims to secure the heritage property and gardens for future generations while enhancing Slane’s cultural and community offering.
