Drogheda go into this game following a 2-1 win at home to Shelbourne on Monday evening.
Luke Dennison was called into action early on, producing a superb stop from close range to deny Mipo Odubeko before Kevin Doherty’s side took the lead after 27 minutes.
A loose backpass from JJ Lunney allowed Dare Kareem to gather the ball, before cutting inside and firing a superb strike past Wessel Speel in the Shelbourne goal.
Drogheda doubled their lead in the 65th minute, moments after Shelbourne had made a triple substitution. Luke Dennison sent a free kick long, Conor Keeley headed the ball into the path of Andrew Quinn who saw his effort diverted into his own net by Evan Caffrey.
Shelbourne got a goal back through Harry Wood in the 90th minute after a scramble in the box, but Drogheda saw the game out to claim the three points.
The games between Drogheda and Derry this season in the league have resulted in a win for either side in the Brandywell, and a 1-1 draw in Sullivan & Lambe Park.
