Sonairte begin recycling the non-recyclable

Sonairte – The National Ecology Centre based in Laytown, Co. Meath is now operating as a drop-off point for TerraCycle – an eco-friendly recycling company.

TerraCycle has become a global leader in recycling what was typically considered to be non-recyclable waste which would otherwise end up in a landfill.

They claim they are on the ay to “eliminating the Idea of waste” by recycling the “non-recyclable.”

“Whether it’s coffee capsules from your home, pens from a school, or plastic gloves from a manufacturing facility, TerraCycle can collect and recycle almost any form of waste” they boast on their website.

Sonairte are currently recycling the following items with TerraCycle: crisp packets (any brand), Pringles tubs (Pringles only) and biscuit wrappers (any brand).

As the centre is currently closed in line with COVID-19 restrictions, please save up your waste over the lockdown, bring it in to Sonairte when they re-open and they will send it off to be recycled free of charge!

By doing this, not only will you be reducing plastic waste, you will also be helping to support our work to continue as every kilo of waste we recycle with TerraCycle will add up to donations to keep our ecology centre running. It’s a win-win for the planet!

Please start saving up your waste now to make a big difference!
