East Meath Primary Care Centre expected to open early next year

The HSE has confirmed to Fine Gael TD, Fergus O’Dowd that the lease agreement for the new East Meath Primary Care Centre will be signed with the developer shortly.

He has also been told that, despite the pandemic, all construction work should be completed and the centre fully operational by the second quarter of 2022 offering the following services:

  • Older Persons Services
  • Psychology
  • Speech and Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Public Health Nursing
  • Physiotherapy Services
  • Social Work
  • Counselling
  • Podiatry
  • Diabetes

“We are advised that the developer hopes to be in a position to appoint a contractor before the end of the year” the Chief Officer of the Midlands Louth Meath Community Health Organisation, Des O’Flynn, told deputy O’Dowd.

“Given the extent of works required and the on-going pandemic it is likely to take the majority of 2021 to complete the building works with equipping to follow and the centre operational by Q2 2022.

When a building contractor is appointed we will be in a position to provide a more detailed programme”

Deputy O’Dowd said he had been campaigning for this centre for a number of years now on behalf of the people of East Meath who, he said, “…fully deserve this new state-of-the-art Primary Care Centre.”
