Three arrested as drugs worth over €1m seized in County Meath

Gardaí seized a huge haul of illegal drugs thought to be worth over a million Euro and arrested three people last night in County Meath.

The drugs seizure, which included suspected cocaine, cannabis, and tablets came about following a number of searches in County Meath yesterday evening, Thursday, 29th April.

At approximately 9:20pm, as a result of an operation conducted by the Navan Detective Unit and the Meath Divisional Drug Unit, Gardaí intercepted a vehicle in Slane. It is understood they were acting on a tip-off.

While searching this vehicle, Gardaí located and seized approximately €70,000 of suspected cocaine (pending analysis).

The sole occupant of the vehicle, a woman in her early 30s, was arrested at the scene and is currently being detained at Navan Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

In a follow up search of a residence in Wilkinstown, County Meath, later in the evening, Gardaí seized approximately €480,000 of suspected cannabis herb, approximately €400,000 of suspected tablets (Alprazolam, Diazepam, and MDMA), and approximately €70,000 of suspected cocaine.

All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

Gardaí also seized an industrial grade tablet press and other drug paraphernalia, documentation, and phones during this follow up search.

A woman in her early 30s and a man in his late 30s were arrested at the scene and both persons are being detained at Kells Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.
