Sinn Féin TD Imelda Munster has called on the government to ensure that the HSE delivers on its promise to provide a vaccination centre in Drogheda.
Deputy Munster raised the matter in the Dáil, asking Tánaiste Leo Varadkar to ensure that the HSE delivers on its commitment to provide a vaccination centre for the town.
“This vaccination centre was promised some time ago and there appears to be no urgency on the HSE’s part to deliver it” she said.
“I raised this issue in the Dáil last month and I have been in contact with the HSE but there is still no update from them or from government.
“There is a vaccination centre in Dundalk, which is very welcome, however if we are to have an effective and efficient vaccination programme in Louth we need a centre in both towns.
“The vaccination roll out is the key to reopening society in the coming weeks and months, and a vaccination centre in Drogheda, Ireland’s largest town, is central to that.
“I asked the Tánaiste to ensure that the HSE expedites the delivery of the centre, and he agreed to raise the matter with them.
“I will continue to follow up on this issue. There’s no excuse for the delay.”
