The Mayor of Drogheda, Fianna Fail Councillor James Byrne, is encouraging residents’ associations and community groups to engage with Louth County Council to let them know their feelings on proposed new speed limits in housing estates.
“Louth County Council proposes to advertise a review of Speed Limit Bye-Law for Housing Estates, which came into effect in 2016” Councillor Byrne said.
He said the council are seeking submissions from Residents Associations/Community Groups regarding the adequacy or otherwise of the existing speed limits in their Housing Estate.
“In order to ensure that housing estate roads are as safe as possible for pedestrians, cyclists and children, I would encourage residents, residents’ associations and community groups to make submissions in relation to the possible introduction of a 30km/h speed limit in their estate” he said.
Submissions may be made in writing before 12.00 noon on Tuesday, 10th August 2021.
It is important to note that the Housing Estate must be already taken in charge by the Council.
