Byrne urges housing list applicants to take note of Council’s Housing Needs Assessment

“If you fail to return the completed form and all supporting documentation within the specified timeframe, your application for social housing support will be terminated.

Sinn Féin Councillor Joanna Byrne has urged all relevant applicants on Louth County Council’s housing waiting list to comply with the upcoming Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) which is being carried out by the Council over the coming weeks.

Councillor Byrne, who is also the Chairperson of the Louth County Council Housing Strategic Policy Committee, says that if applicants don’t return the completed form and all supporting documentation within the specified timeframe, their application for social housing support will be terminated and they could lose their place on the housing list.

“The Housing Assessments Unit of Louth County Council are commencing a ‘Summary of Social Housing Assessments (SSHA)’ which is a review of those applicants for social housing supports that were qualified on the social housing waiting list prior to 31st July 2020 but excluding those applicants that were reviewed during the SSHA 2020″ Councillor Byrne said.

She explained that Louth County Council will write to the relevant applicants commencing this week and they will be asked to complete a form, provide updated information and supporting documentation where relevant and return this information to Louth County Council.”It is essential that the completed form and supporting documentation is returned before 5 pm on Friday, 8th October 2021″ Councillor Byrne said.

“If you fail to return the completed form and all supporting documentation within the specified timeframe, your application for social housing support will be terminated.

“Previous Housing Needs Assessment has seen large numbers of cases closed, some due to people simply NOT returning the forms resulting in their waiting time on the list gone.

“I am urging anyone and everyone who gets these forms to promptly return them along with any documentation required. Your years built up on the Housing List are invaluable; do not lose them out of complacency.”

If you have any queries regarding completion of the form or the supporting documentation required, please contact Louth County Council on 1890 202 303 or email hau@louthcoco.ie
