Salmon of Knowledge mural the first of six in DRAWDA series

Ciaran Dunlevy’s magnificent mural on Wogans wall depicting the story of Fionn MacCumhaill and the Salmon of Knowledge has certainly captured the public imagination in recent weeks but the really good news is that there is much more to look forward to.

Ciaran’s work is just the first of six murals by local, national and international artists which will form part of an urban art trail called DRAWDA .

The Urban Art Trail will explore the stories of some of the leading local mythological figures through a series of visual and audio programmes over the next 6 months culminating in a mini festival in April 2022.

The next five pieces in the series will be delivered in close proximity to each other as part of the Arts Council’s “In the Open, Faoin Spéir” Initiative.

There will also be an outreach programme with local schools beginning in January 2022.

Many people gave a huge amount of support on this first mural including Wogan Interiors, Fitzwilliam Group, Height for Hire, Johnstone Paint, Jacob Dunlevy, Christy Finglas, Emma Woods, Janet McManus, Richard Moore, Anthony Murphy, Declan Kierans and Leo Monahan.

The project will be inclusive by working with local communities, and it will support over 14 artists in its delivery.

It is funded by the Arts Council under In the Open | Faoin Spéir initiative, Louth County Council, Love Drogheda BIDS and Town & Village Accelerated Measures funding.
