Students at the Drogheda Institute of Further Education (DIFE) went a bit crackers as they celebrated Christmas with a series of festive events recently.
Whilst ever mindful of government health guidelines, their Christmas celebrations kicked off with an amazing ‘Christmas Cracker Fair’ run by the level 6 Advanced Culinary Arts students.
As part of their course these students must host an event as part of their assessment so they chose to run the Christmas Cracker Fair with proceeds going to St. Vincent De Paul and Drogheda Homeless Aid.
As well as selling lots of delicious Christmas baked goods, many other departments got on board to display their skills.
Woodwork, Engineering, fashion, Art, and this year the Hairdressing and Barbering departments did live styling demonstrations. The Sports Department students and teachers held a Spinathon in the marquee.
“Big thanks to our sponsors for this event, Celtic Wind Crops, Trim Castle, and Northeast Marquees” said a college spokesperson. “Over €2,000 was raised for the Charities and a huge thank you to all that participated and donated to this event.”

But that’s not all. The DIFE Student Council ran a Christmas Jumper Charity Day at which they raised €368 for Focus Ireland. A special thanks goes to Stuart Cunningham (Computer Systems & Networks), Aleksandra Wilczynska (Beauty Therapy), Thomas Harford (Pre-university Science), Amanda Sandor (Pharmacy Assistant), Nikola Styczen (Applied Social Studies with Psychology) and Roisin Barrell (Hospitality). The event was an enormous success with lots of students and staff participating in the festivities.
And there’s even more, Elves were let loose in DIFE with Candy Canes, hot Chocolate Reindeers and Christmas cheer found all around the campus on the run up to the holidays. Classroom and staff Kris Kindles were held, fun was had by all.

A staff raffle for an Amazing Christmas Hamper raised €300 Euro for SVP. DIFE would like to thank all staff and students for their participation in these festive events and to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Christmas.
