Some of the legends of the Drogheda music scene are getting together again after 21 years to perform a concert that they first played at the Bridgeford Club as a fundraiser in the wake of the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
They are reprising the show “The Pianoman Plays On” which is a celebration of the music of Billy Joel, for one night only, live at the TLT Theatre on Sunday April 3rd.
Twenty years on from that concert in the Bridgeford, the original line up of Steve and Ged Milne, David Leddy, Johnny Crean, Vivienne McKeown, Marty McDermott, Niall Gregory, Baz Leahy, Ciaran Mitchell, Jimmy ‘The Saint’ Brennan will be joined for the night by special guests the Drogheda Male Voice Choir under their musical director David Leddy.
The original production, which was put together by musical director and musician Steve Milne, will showcase the best of local talent, alongside the wonderful voices of the Drogheda Male Voice Choir who have been working on some new arrangements especially written for the show.
The show will be hosted by Alison Comyn and a great night’s entertainment is guaranteed with iconic music, and some surprises along the way.
“The Pianoman Plays On” is a celebration of the music of Billy Joel which includes timeless hits such as Uptown Girl, New York State of Mind, Just the Way You Are, Scenes from an Italian Restaurant are just a few of the great songs that will be performed on the night.
“The show has a real feel-good factor and is shaping up to be a night not to be missed,” says musical director and organiser Steve Milne.
