Fianna Fail Councillor James Byrne says he is pleased to see new flexi-bollards installed outside the old Tredagh Lodge building opposite Lidl and some more added further up at Wesco.
“This will prevent HGVs from parking up, blocking access to pedestrians and forcing them out onto the road to pass” he said.
“This stretch of road has been a long-standing issue where pedestrian safety is concerned.
“Louth County Council was willing to complete the footpath last year – but couldn’t – as it doesn’t own the land on which the proposed new section would go and couldn’t reach agreement at the time.
“The addition of the flexi-bollards will at least give safer passage on this busy route.”
