Brand new track and video from Drogheda rapper 1k3

Riding the wave of urban music in Ireland and following the success of his last single ‘Never Say’ Drogheda-based rapper 1k3, better known to his friends in this part of the world as Ike Isichei, has released what he calls a new “heartbreak” anthem ‘IDK’ (I don’t know).

Over an undulating UK drill beat, the rising-star returns, questioning the loyalty of girls and his close friends.

Inquiring if they really love him by deconstructing the dissonance between the two, 1k3 shows off his lyrical prowess, with his poetic approach to wordplay holding his listeners’ attention across the track as he closes each bar with a pun to decipher.

“The track is about girls that feel they are above the world and feel over entitled” 1k3 explained.

“When I was in the studio with my producer Relyt (Chris Brown, Jay1, S1mba), I wanted to make an old-school heart-break anthem with a modern twist.

“We decided on mixing the UK rap/drill genre with soulful lyricism resulting in an electrical and very pumping love song, that some may listen and be in their feels but some may listen and want to party!”

Raised in a Nigerian household in Ireland, 1k3 has established himself as one of the country’s most hotly-tipped rising artists with his irresistible, genre-blending approach to RnB, Hip Hop and Afrobeats. Serving a unique blend of dancefloor-filling rhythms combined with soulful song writing.

In recent years, he’s collaborated with some of the most authoritative forces in the Irish scene, including Andre Fazaz, Wendy Godfrey and A92’s Ksav, Dbo and Nikz.

Visuals are also a key aspect of his artistry – clocking up impressive views across his music videos, including over 100,000 views in the first week of the release of his powerful collaborative track with Andre Fazaz, ‘Royal Bike’.

Recent achievements include supporting Grammy award nominee and multi-platinum-selling artist Tory Lanez, featuring in GRM Daily, Mixtape Madness plus securing a feature with Micheal Dapaah & Stormzy’s mate Jallow.
