Meath County Council has announced that they will be extending the footpath from Duleek to the entrance of the new Community Facility and that they expect the job to be completed by the end of the year.
Welcoming the news Drogheda-East Meath Fianna Fáil Councillor Stephen McKee said he has lobbied hard for this footpath to be included on the local scheme of works and that he is delighted that it will be started shortly under the Council’s Active Travel initiative.
“Construction of this footpath up the Navan Road will allow and encourage children and families to safely walk from the village directly up to our new Community Facility” he said.
“It will make a huge difference in terms of making the facility more accessible for everyone.
“I’ve been told that work on the footpath will start shortly and that the path will be substantially completed by the end of this year.
“I would like to thank both Duleek-Bellewstown GFC and Duleek & District Athletic Club for working with me to help ensure the successful approval of the project” he concluded.
