Watching the pictures and reports on TV of the wholesale destruction and huge loss of life and misery caused by this week’s massive earthquake in Syria and Turkey is heart-breaking and leaves the viewer wishing there is something they can do to help.
Well there is – Drogheda Credit Union will host a Donation Day on Thursday, 16th February across all of its branches in Drogheda, Dunleer, Trim and East Meath with the aim of raising much needed funds to support the people affected.
The Credit Union invites all its members to join them and donate what they can to the appeal. The money raised by members on the day will go directly to Unicef Ireland to help children impacted by the disaster and support with aid on the ground in both Turkey and Syria.
“Once again, Drogheda Credit Union, has been compelled by the recent earthquake disaster to try to raise money for relief efforts in Turkey and Syria” says Tom Kiely, CEO, Drogheda Credit Union.
“Last year, our members helped us to raise an astonishing €20,000 for the Ukraine appeal and we hope that they will support us in our fundraising efforts for the earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria” he continued.
The Drogheda Credit Union Donation Day for Turkey and Syria will run during branch opening hours from 9:30AM until 5:00PM with all members being asked to donate what they can to the appeal.
